“There’s no such thing as bad weather – only bad clothing.” If you were a child in the ’80s or ’90s, you probably got sent to school, out on a walk, or simply outside to play with those exact words. As much as we used to roll our eyes at that parental saying, they were (as so often) completely right. Once you’ve found yourself in a hail or rainstorm wearing proper outdoor clothing, you’ll know how little the weather actually matters. Sure, hiking and walking are nicer in the sunshine, but staying dry even in monsoon-like rain is already more than half the battle. In these outdoor stores in Berlin, you’ll find everything you need for your next adventure.

Camp 4
At Camp 4, you’ll find gear for hiking, camping, and climbing, from shoes and clothing to tents. The staff are truly passionate about the outdoors. Their company blog lets you follow their adventures, whether it’s trekking in Lapland or Scotland. Each employee has their own area of expertise and offers not just manufacturer recommendations but also personal experiences.
From the outside, the store doesn’t look as big as it actually is. But beware: it has two floors and stretches quite far back. Plan to spend some time exploring. No time? You can also order from their online shop.
You can find a full list of brands sold at Camp 4 here: https://www.camp4.de/marken/

Globetrotter
These stores are huge! No matter which branch I’ve been to – Berlin, Hamburg, or Dresden – I’m always amazed at their size. The Dresden store even has a huge pool where you can try out kayaks. Thankfully, the layout is super organized, so you’ll find what you’re looking for.
From cozy Norwegian sweaters to tipis and the aforementioned kayaks – you’ll find everything an outdoor-lover could want. What I especially love is the Globetrotter Magazine, which sparks major wanderlust. The stories from hikers, climbers, and nature lovers are beautifully told, both in words and photos.
And don’t miss the regular events hosted by Globetrotter. I recently took part in a GPS hike to learn how to use a GPS device. There are also occasional exhibitions and talks, listed on their events page.

Langbrett
Right in my neighborhood, I often stop to admire the shop window: Langbrett is like a mini mental getaway on my way home. The display is always beautifully arranged with longboards, surfboards, water bottles, climbing shoes, and outdoor clothing.
Although many outdoor brands and stores now focus on sustainability, Langbrett has had eco- and people-friendly values since the beginning. They carry Patagonia, arguably the most sustainable outdoor brand, as well as Dopper bottles and the Guppyfriend laundry bag. In fact, Langbrett’s founders – Alexander Nolte and Oliver Spies – invented the Guppyfriend. The bag acts like a filter, preventing microplastics from entering the water during laundry. Their latest invention? A detergent that helps prevent fiber breakage.
Their blog is packed with information on the products they sell, with a strong focus on sustainability, Fairtrade, and environmental impact, for both external brands and their in-house label.
Besides the Berlin shop, there are locations across Germany.

Mont K
At first glance, Mont K looks like a pure climbing store – but it’s so much more. You’ll find gear for outdoor fans, climbers, mountaineers, and campers. Alongside clothing for every nature-based hobby, they stock water bottles, camp kitchen gear, sleeping bags, tents, and more. They also offer a waxing station for Fjällräven gear and climbing courses that come with certificates upon completion.
Useful for those testing the wild life for the first time: tents, snowshoes, crampons, backpacks, and crash pads are available to rent.
Now there are two stores on Kastanienallee, right across from each other: one for hiking and the other for general outdoor gear.

McTrek
McTrek is a staple among Berlin’s outdoor stores, open since 2000 on Frankfurter Allee. The focus here is on short trips rather than long expeditions. McTrek calls these outings “micro adventures.” The product range is price-optimized, meaning you can expect outlet-level prices, ideal for beginners who don’t want to spend a fortune right away.
They carry popular outdoor brands like Vaude, Icepeak, The North Face, Mammut, Osprey, and Lowe Alpine.
McTrek, Karl-Marx-Allee 112 – 114, 10243 Berlin (Mon–Fri 10am–7pm, Sat 10am–5pm)
360° Outdoor
Small but mighty: that’s 360° Outdoor in Kreuzberg. The compact store mainly stocks Scandinavian brands, which fans of clean, minimalist design will love. Let’s be honest – outdoor gear can (and should!) also look good. Brands include Bergans, Fjällräven, Lundhags, and Haglöfs. If you enjoy the outdoors and want advice from someone who gets it, this Kreuzberg gem is for you.
Bonus: They always have tents on display in their courtyard.
They also offer a waxing station for Fjällräven gear. And the website: wow. You can really tell one of the founders is a photographer.

Schöffel-Lowa Store (Alexa)
If you’re not a fan of shopping centers, brace yourself: the Schöffel-Lowa Store is located right in the middle of the Alexa Center. Here you’ll find Schöffel clothing and Lowa footwear. You can even book a personal consultation online to avoid waiting around in-store when all of Berlin seems to be out and about.
Schöffel-Lowa Store, Grunerstr. 20, 10179 Berlin (Mon–Sat 10am–9pm)
Der Aussteiger
Der Aussteiger has been around since 1993 and now has two locations in Berlin – Prenzlauer Berg and Friedrichshain. Besides clothing and gear for climbers, hikers, and outdoor fans, you can also rent equipment. There’s even a kids’ edition store in Prenzlauer Berg for families heading out on nature adventures.
Bonus for the busy bees: the store is open until 10 pm!
Der Aussteiger, Danziger Str. 41, 10435 Berlin (Mon–Sat 10am–10pm) / Warschauer Str. 27a, 10243 Berlin (Mon–Sat 12pm–8pm)
Tapir Outdoor Store
Tapir is a small but charming outdoor shop that may not win with floor space, but makes up for it with heart. The team is made up of experienced outdoor enthusiasts who give genuine, pressure-free advice. I especially appreciate that they take their time and choose their product range carefully.
Whether you’re gearing up for a multi-day trek or just need a reliable backpack for a hike, you’ll find it here. Their selection includes functional clothing, sleeping bags, GPS devices, and a strong focus on sustainable brands and repair services.

Green Guerillas
Green Guerillas is the perfect store if you think sustainability and style aren’t mutually exclusive. Located in Kreuzberg, it’s a real hidden gem for fair outdoor clothing, urban gear, and everything you might need for microadventures or festivals.
I love how their selection is not only functional but also stylish and ethically made. You’ll find brands like Patagonia, Pyua, and Picture…
